Ms. Lauren Godwin
I am thrilled to be the Speech-Language Pathologist serving Preschool through 5th Grade at LaVerna Evans Elementary this 2022-23 school year! I know this year will be filled with fun, learning, and new adventures. I strive to create a positive learning environment where we can grow together, as I equip my students with the speech and language skills to be successful in the classroom and beyond.
My students will have the opportunity to work on their articulation, fluency, language, and/or social language skills. Your child will be given a speech/language folder that should be brought to and from school every week. Periodically, I will send home notes to inform parents of what their child worked on that day. Throughout the school year, I will also send various activities for students to complete to practice good speech and language skills at home. Students should complete the activities and return them to school in the folder given at the beginning of the school year. Although speech and language homework is not required to be completed, it is important for parents to play an active role by working with their child at home to help them improve their speech/language skills. I encourage parents to ask their child about what he/she has been working on in speech to spark that communication at home for carryover of those skills.
I look forward to working with each student this year! I always encourage an open line of communication. If there are any questions or concerns at any time throughout the school year, please feel free to contact me.
