• REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBSTITUTE NURSING:   We are always looking for Registered Nurses that want to positively contribute to the well-being, academic success, and lifelong achievement of students.  All persons wishing to substitute as a School Nurse in O'Fallon School District No. 90 must possess an Illinois Registered Nurse License, submit TB test results, and complete a District No. 90 substitute application packet. This packet may be picked up at the District Office located at 118 E. Washington Street, O’Fallon, IL 62269. Once applicants have completed the requirements, the applicant will be placed on that month’s Board of Education packet for approval.

  • Students shall NOT be in school if:

    • The child has a fever above 100 and until the child has been fever free for 24 hours without medication to reduce the fever.
    • The child has vomited twice or more in 24 hours.
    • The child has diarrhea.

  • Administering Medications At School

Medications should be given at home whenever possible. Please review the Medication Policy of O'Fallon School District 90 which can be found in your parent handbook and Section 7:270 of the Board Policy Manual. When it becomes necessary for the building nurse to administer medications (both prescription and over-the-counter such as ibuprofen, cough drops and cold medicine), then a Medication Authorization Form with a doctor's prescription and signed parental consent is required.  Medications must be in the original pharmacy or store bottle, which will stay at school for the entire time the medication is to be given.  Authorization forms are available in each school and downloadable under the Quick Links, Medical Forms.

The Illinois Legislature has issued new rules regarding the use of Rescue Inhalers for asthma in the schools.

    • No doctor's authorization is required
    • Parents must give written permission (see Asthma Inhaler Parent Release Form)
    • Parents must supply a current pharmacy label which contains the name of the medication, the prescribed dosage, and the time at which or circumstances under which the medication is to be administered.
    • The required information will be kept in the Nurse's Office.
    • Students may carry and self-administer their Rescue Inhaler once these conditions have been met.
