Welcome Parents!

A very happy hello and welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. I am Nicole Warren, a.k.a. Ms. Nicole and it is a pleasure to have your child in my class. We will have so much fun in my classroom! I believe in learning through play, getting messy in a positive environment and most of all from making mistakes. In my room there are several learning environments that include art, music, science, math, writing, reading, blocks and dramatic play. My personal goal is to encourage independence while discovering new and exciting things.

A little bit about me:

I grew up in Quincy, IL, which is north of the St. Louis Metro-Area, with my parents who immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1962 and because of them I can fluently speak and write in German. In 2002 I graduated from Western Illinois University with Bachelors of Fine Arts and Communications with a minor in German. Currently, I hold my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education as well as Special Education. I have worked with children for over 17 years with the last 3 working with District 90, in various positions including: Summer Camp, Before and After Care and the last 2 in Pre-school. Over 10 years of my experience comes from working with children who have special needs.

I am happily married to my husband, Jason, for eight years but we currently do not have any children, yet! While waiting for the stork to bless us, we do have a small zoo at home that includes three dogs, Zhane, Sydney and Winston, and four cats, Stinky, Mocha, Zero and Samantha. Outside the walls of Marie Schaefer I enjoy cooking, stamping/card making, attending concerts and finding creative inspiration from Pinterest.
