Mr. Tom Clark, Jr.

Hi!

My name is Mr. Clark and I'm super excited to be a part of the great Carriel Junior High faculty here in O'Fallon District 90!

I have been at Carriel for 5 years and a special education teacher serving adults and adolescents for twenty-eight years in some of the toughest schools in Southern Illinois.

I have earned two Associate Degrees and a Bachelors Degree in Special Education, with additional endorsements for teaching students with behavior/emotional disorders (B/ED), those with learning disabilities (LD), and those who are educable mentally handicapped (EMH). I have received comprehensive training in serving adolescents and adults who have been identified as being on the autism spectrum, those suffering from bi-polar disorder, Prader-Willi Syndrome, and am certified as an interventionist in Teenage Suicide Prevention. I served in the US Army as a Combat Medic and licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician.

The primary objective of the "ED" class at Carriel is to help students understand how they learn, understand and manage the emotions involved when triggered, and providing alternative strategies that students can effectively use as they transition back into the general education setting.
