February - Teacher of the Month

Congratulations to Mr. Rich Bell for receiving the D90 Teacher of the Month Award! This month's staff awards are generously sponsored by Todd Stonewater of Edward Jones.

Fifth grade teacher, Rich Bell, has a desire to help all students reach their full potential in his classroom every day. Students in 5th grade many times are trying to find their way academically and socially and he is ready to support them with all of the challenges they face. He is a role model for students in this very important time in their lives and he excels in this role. This year he has also mentored two new teachers during the first semester by assisting them with the rigors of planning and preparation for each day and in all subjects. Both teachers are appreciative and thriving under his guidance. Mr. Bell is a past winner of the VFW Education award. Mr. Bell strives to develop students into lifelong learners, good citizens and volunteers in our school building. During his tenure of 19 years at Evans School he has worked to model and promote the citizenship quality in students and staff. Evans often features a patriotic theme and he is happy to dress the part as Uncle Sam when he delivers the important message of making good choices and demonstrating citizenship. A key component of grade 5 is a program led by Mr. Bell called "SOS (Serving Our School)." Students submit an application to Mr. Bell for various volunteer positions in the school building including recycling, assisting other students with reading and math, and filing papers for classroom teachers. Principal Keller says, "Our lives at Evans School are en”Rich”ed by the work Mr. Bell does each and every day."

District 90 thanks Todd Stonewater for sponsoring our staff awards program and making this special recognition possible!
